Amendment: C/M Shad proposes an amendment to
increase the fine allocation to the JSO from $20 to $100. Amendment
fails 1-5 (Shad in favor). Philip
Peterson of the Auditor’s Office reported that the law provides for maximum
fines of up to $500, but that fines are levied in only about 1/3 of cases and
generally not in the maximum amount.
$65 of each fine levied is for court costs, and the Police and Fire
Pension fund receives 30% of the remainder. APPROVE 6-0 |
