indicated that the applicant was requesting a deferral on the legislation
until the applicant cleared the closure with the Historical Association. Mr. Joe Braun spoke in opposition to the
bill because he felt that the closure would leave his property
land-locked. The Miller representative
responded by saying that the closure would, in fact, result in Mr. Braun
actually gaining more property. |

discussion of this bill. Attorney T.
R. Hainline, representing St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and School, spoke in favor
of the closure for safety reasons. Mr.
Hainline’s position was supported by the school’s head, parents of current
and former students of the school. Neighborhood residents
expressed concern that pedestrian access to the historic area would be limited. Language was added to the amendment to
